I’ve Been In The Beauty Industry For 10 Years – Here Are 18 Beauty Products I Swear By
After I turned 30 and had kids, I made my skin a priority as I realized that the first signs of aging show on the face & neck and the only way to delay this process would be to start paying attention to my skin and stay on top of things. The past 7 years were all about finding the beauty products that worked for my extremely parched skin – which wasn’t very straightforward since the market is flooded with beauty products. It took me 2 years to find my holy grail – after a lot of trials and testing to finally determine what was satisfactory!
How I prioritized my needs –
- ‘clean’ ingredients – paraben free, sulphate free and phthalate-free
- value for money – expensive doesn’t always mean good
- products made specially for dry skin
Hempz Body Moisturizer
Hempz is the BEST moisturizer for dry skin. I have tried way too many body lotions and creams but none comes close to Hempz. I love the original fragrance which is a clean sweet smell that isn’t greasy & gets absorbed into the skin in seconds.
Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water Waterproof
I cannot imagine my beauty products arsenal without the Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water. I have tried both versions – the normal (pink bottle) & waterproof and clearly like the waterproof one is better. And that’s because this one contains a mix of liquid and oil which works great in taking off stubborn waterproof/long wear mascara, foundation & eyeliners without the harsh rubbing.
Dove Advanced Care Deodorant
I have tried most of the deodorants in the market from Native to Secret, and keep coming back to the Dove Advanced Care Antiperspirant Cool Essentials Deodorant. It contains 0% alcohol which helps delicate underarms recover from shaving irritation and has a crisp, soothing scent of cucumber and green tea. All the other fragrances (in my opinion) do not last until the end of the day except this one!
Youth To The People Kale+Green Tea Spinach Vitamins Superfood Cleanser
This cleanser is a gentle daily face wash with a bunch of antioxidants – kale, green tea & spinach which does not dry out the skin. You need to use very little as it lathers up well when it comes in contact with water. Finish up with moisturizer and your face will feel as soft as butter.
Tree Of Life Vitamin C Serum
Vitamin C Serum is an excellent pre-emptive serum to help your skin both before and after wrinkles begin. The way I use this is by first using a cleanser to wash off any dirt from the skin and then the Serum. You might ask why do we need to use a face serum? Serums result in a reduction of appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, and hyperpigmentation for a more even skin tone and leaves skin with a brighter, more radiant appearance.
Biossance Squalane+Peptide Eye cream
This has been my go-to nighttime beauty products for the past year and a half and it has not let me down! This is an ultra-hydrating eye gel that reduces the look of puffiness and dark circles. A little goes a long way – use a small squeeze of this product on both eyes. Eye cream goes on after face serum and before moisturizer.
Caudalie Deep Cleansing Exfoliator
Exfoliation is done to remove the dead and dulling skin cells against the top layers of the skin by rubbing. I use this exfoliator twice a week in my shower by applying it on damp skin & rinsing it out with water. This purifies and refines skin texture and unclogs pores and can be used instead of a face wash twice a week.
Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Cream
When I moved to California & had my kids, my skin started getting very dry. I was on a hunt for a lightweight, non-greasy moisturizer with 24-hour hydration. In the bargain, I tried various brands, formulations, textures to find one that I truly loved! And then I found the Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Cream! This cream goes on smooth and silky, absorbs well while providing great moisture that lasts all day even in winter & is my one of my favorite beauty products.
Kiehl’s Super Fluid Sunscreen SPF 50+
I absolutely love how light weight this sunscreen is. Its non-greasy & absorbs right into my skin as if it’s not even there. This formula helps defend against UV rays, pollution and free radicals and helps protect skin from the early signs of aging. It is non-comedogenic leaves a matte finish.
Shiseido Ultimate Sun Protection Spray For Body SPF 50+
The reason I purchased this SPF was because it’s a convenient spray-type sunscreen that allows for quick, easy application over large areas of skin, especially hard-to-reach areas even while spraying upside down. After spraying this over the body, I’ve noticed it leaves a sheen/gloss on the skin which I personally am not a fan of. But if you like a glossy skin finish, this one is for you!
Versace Vanitas Eau De Parfum
Givenchy Teint Couture Everwear Foundation
The reason I love this foundation so much is because it evens out the skin tone, smooths the skin’s texture, corrects imperfections and revives the skin’s natural glow. Its buildable medium to high coverage allows you to apply it à la carte until you achieve the desired result.
This is my favorite concealer! Creamy and blendable, long lasting, doesn’t crease (just put the slightest bit of powder on top if you get oily), full coverage but natural looking. It makes you look bright eyed and fresh! After having twins, I definitely need a bit of help after all the sleepless nights to look human again 🙂 And this product doesn’t let me down.
This is a terrific eye shadow! It not only stays fresh all day, and is very easy to manipulate on the eyelid. It has become a staple in my repertoire. Doing a smoky eye has never been easier. Sometimes I pop a shimmer shade over the middle of the lid for an extra pop.
L’oreal Voluminous Lash Paradise Mascara
This is the mascara of my dreams. It lengthens, separates, adds volume, doesn’t clump, and holds the curl of my natural lashes! It is a high end mascara for a drugstore price. Doesn’t clump. Doesn’t flake. And the best part – it holds a curl beautifully!
Shu Uemura Eyelash Curler
After trying a lot of different ones, this is the best curler for makeup artists, adapts to every type of eye and curls beautifully! Works great with less pinching than the rest, leaving even the most straightest lashes curled, fanned and stunning every single time!
I held out for a long time because I thought it was too expensive for “just another sponge”. Well it’s not just another sponge. A dampened beauty blender is a magic face wand that makes your makeup beautiful! I remember using the beauty blender when they first released. And over the years I’ve tried finding other alternatives similar to it! But none have been the same! I’ve never had issues applying liquids or powders. I use the pointed tip for my eyes and nose and the fuller end for the rest of my face! They’re super easy to clean and can easily be stored for travel!
